More On West Ham Looking At Signing French International Who Is A Free Agent Plus Reactions

|

For several days now, we’ve been contemplating who just might turn out to be the eighth signing of what has been a productive summer transfer window.

Regular visitors to Vital West Ham will be aware of which possible recruits we’ve covered in a series of articles.

Today, yet another possible name is being suggested by the media.

The news source, Sports Mole, has picked up on something on the media source Foot365 inferring that West Ham United are amongst a number of clubs looking at, possibly, acquiring the services of the former Newcastle United midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa.

The 31-year-old is currently a free agent after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired at the end of the 2017 / 2018 season.

Ben Arfa, a French international with 15 caps to his name, is a free agent and is therefore available without a transfer fee being involved.

Although several clubs are said to be interested, our referenced source is of the opinion that the Hammers are amongst the front-runners for his signature with Manuel Pellegrini said to be an admirer of his versatile attacking talents.

Here at Vital West Ham, we’re not so sure about this one.

We’re concerned that Ben Arfa didn’t play a single game for Paris Saint-Germain last season.

We’re also a little concerned that during his time in the Premier League, with Newcastle, whilst he had some memorable games he had many that were unmemorable.

Perhaps, a squad place might be up for grabs for the player but, if he does put his name to a West Ham contract, I can’t see him becoming a first-team regular, can you?

However, when it comes to the social media networks, opinion on the possible signing is mixed.
