West Ham have to start new month with a bang against relegation-threatened side – Opinion

|

It would be an understatement to say that October was a poor month for West Ham and one that the club need to bounce back from.

Three games, two losses and one draw against teams that are in similar positions in the Premier League table has seen West Ham drop to 10th in the standings and has allowed rivals in the division to gain ground on the east London side.

Yet not everything is as bad as it seems, and Manuel Pellegrini’s side have a chance this weekend to redeem themselves in a big way when Newcastle United make the trip down south to the London Stadium also in a desperate position for points, and the Hammers should be feeling confident.

Will West Ham get the three points this weekend?

Yes

No

Sitting in 17th in the Premier League and just one point above the relegation zone, the Magpies are seemingly in a dangerous position already in the season, but for West Ham, they have to be viewing this game at home as nothing but a win, and a sizeable victory could well be on the cards for the Hammers.

Indeed, West Ham managed the double over Newcastle last season, with a 2-0 win in March this year being the last time the two sides met in Stratford, and with the Toon in a vulnerable position and the Hammers in as desperate need of points than the northeast side, Pellegrini’s side could be in for a massive result this afternoon.

Three points could see West Ham shoot-up to the Europa League spots in the Premier League table if results go their way on the weekend, yet getting something over Newcastle will be the most important factor, and given the Irons positive recent history against the Magpies, a win could well be on the horizon of the cards fall into place.
