West Ham face competition in transfer chase, move is very ambitious

|

West Ham have joined Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessié, according to Express Sport.

Milan could be forced to sell the Ivory Coast international in order to remain within the Financial Fair Play rules and it is said they will be willing to listen to offers in the region of £30million.

Kessié’s two-year loan from Atalanta is coming to an end, though Milan have an obligation to sign him at the end of the deal – they would still make a profit from the sale if they were to get their desired £30million.

The 22-year-old scored seven goals and assisted twice in 34 Serie A appearances this campaign and was an integral part of Milan’s team.

He has expressed a desire to continue playing European football, which could make it difficult for the Hammers to secure his signature ahead of their competition.

However, Arsenal may struggle to afford him due to how tight their budget is and the number of positions Unai Emery feels need to be improved.

It is a very ambitious move for West Ham, which would send a real signal of intent, though it will be a very difficult one to pull off.
