West Ham duo in trouble as Moyes may contemplate showing them exit door – Opinion

|

Analysing a report from Claret & Hugh, both Manuel Lanzini and Ryan Fredericks could be the most likely candidates to be shown the exit door out of a string of candidates this season after disappointing campaigns respectively.

The piece, which outlined who manager David Moyes would be most likely to let go in the summer, included the likes of Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko and David Martin – but the duo who are arguably most in danger are Lanzini and Fredericks.

Should the Hammers duo be sold?

Yes

No

Since Lanzini’s devastating World Cup training injury back in 2018, there is a case to be made that the Argentine has been a shadow of his former self – especially this campaign.

The 27-year-old, starting just twelve games, has managed a meagre two assists in that time – all the while failing to match his fellow Hammers teammates in terms of shots on goal according to WhoScored.

Meanwhile, Fredericks, who put pen to paper on a deal at the London Stadium back in 2018, could be seen as a disappointment – even despite the fact he is top of the charts for most tackles made on average this season by a Hammers player.

The Englishman has come under criticism this campaign from sections of the fan base due to worrying individual performances in certain games – a prime example being his performance in the 2-0 loss to Wolves back in December.

Fredericks, despite having his moments this season, registering two assists from the right flank, could very well be a candidate along with Lanzini for the exit door – with manager Moyes potentially looking to put his stamp on the Hammers squad in preparation for next season.
