West Ham could be dealt a second transfer blow after striker exit – report

|

Less than 24 hours after Sky Sports reported West Ham are giving up on Maxi Gómez, the Hammers have been hit with another blow in their striker search.

According to The Daily Mirror, in response to West Ham interest, AFC Bournemouth are set to offer Callum Wilson a lucrative new four-year-contract to keep him in red and black.

With strikers Marko Arnautović, Andy Carroll and Lucas Pérez all having left London Stadium this summer, the Hammers are in need of new recruits in attack.

Manuel Pellegrini and Mario Husillos had gone all in for Gómez, but in the end a deal with Celta Vigo couldn’t be reached – after the two parties failed to agree on a payment structure.

Wilson managed 14 goals and nine assists in 29 league starts and one substitute appearance for the Cherries last season – the sort of return the Hammers will be hoping to see from whoever is their main striker in 2019/20.

However, it seems as though Wilson will be staying at Vitality Stadium for now, with Bournemouth having warned off West Ham interest for a second summer in a row.

ExWHUEmployee has reported that Pellegrini recently informed Javier Hernández he will be a key player for West Ham next season.

The Mexican was the only striker chosen for West Ham’s tournament appearance in China though, which indicates the manager still wants more forwards to come in.
