Robert Green has been encouraged by the support from England after injury ruined his World Cup hopes.
The 26-year-old was in contention for a place in Sven-Goran Eriksson’s squad when he ruptured his groin in an England ‘B’ international against Belarus, ruling him out for two months.
Green: ‘The opportunity to go to the World Cup was there then taken away but I’d have traded getting injured and not going to the World Cup to be back playing in the Premiership at West Ham.
‘At the time it looked like I’d be missing out on one of the best World Cups for England for 40 years but as it turns out it didn’t go to plan.
‘To get a move like I have done is more than I could have hoped for.’
