West Ham announce agreement involving 20-year-old – report

|

West Ham have confirmed that Nathan Trott will spend the 2019/20 season on loan with AFC Wimbledon.

This was a move which seemed almost inevitable when Roberto and David Martin joined the club on free transfers, as their arrivals could have left the 20-year-old as the club’s fourth choice goalkeeper.

Though he will now be heading to League One, where he will take over from AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who spent last season in the Wimbledon goal while on loan.

Trott has represented England up to Under 20 level, but this will be his first taste of senior football outside of the Checkatrade Trophy.

This loan is seen as an important step in Trott’s career, with the stopper having impressed in Premier League 2 since the age of 17, becoming one of the most highly regarded young English goalkeepers in the process.

He now has an opportunity to take a step up, something he will undoubtedly be hoping to make the most of.

His Football League debut could come on 3rd August when the Dons host Rotherham in their first game of the 2019/20 campaign.

A cup tie at home against bitter rivals MK Dons on the 13th of the same month will also be a big one for Trott if he gets to play, as it will likely be the biggest derby match he will have participated in up to now.
