The Hammers five-game unbeaten run, in the Premier League, comes to a crushing end!

With Mark Noble and Cheikhou Kouyate missing, having gone under the surgeons` knife, the Hammer lack of quality squad depth shone through as a Liverpool side, chasing a Champions League place, picked the Hammers apart.

Any resistance shown by the Hammers ended on the half-hour mark when Liverpool took the lead with Daniel Sturridge, a reputed West Ham target this summer, latching on to a pass from Coutinho to round Adrian and slip the ball into the net.

Coming out for the second half, a goal down, any hopes West Ham had of mounting a comeback were thwarted when Liverpool scored two goals in very quick succession, both coming from the boots of Coutinho.

The Brazilian waltzing his way around the Hammers defence, with sublime skill, to leave Adrian clutching at air with both strikes.

West Ham`s misery was compounded when Origi scored a fourth for the visitors to wrap the three points up.

The best chance West Ham had was when the score was at 1-0, but Andre Ayew, from two yards out, twice managed to hit the loose ball against the post before it was cleared.

The Hammers support emptied the stadium long before the end and the lap of appreciation carried out by the players was carried out in front of a near empty stadium.
