We’ve made notable progress in the transfer window this summer. And, our pre-season preparations continued pleasingly last night, with a 3-1 victory against Aston Villa.
Naturally, results are rather inconsequential during pre-season. The most important thing is that the players attain fitness and familiarise themselves with new tactics. That said, a positive result is always pleasing, and the players produced a satisfactory performance against Villa last night.
Arnautovic has displayed tremendous form in these pre-season fixtures, having scored four goals in three games. Robert Snodgrass was also on the scoresheet last night, scoring against the club in which he spent the second half of last season on loan.
With only a few weeks remaining until the start of the new Premier League season, it’s vital that the players understand and act upon Manuel Pellegrini’s demands, and last night’s passing indicates that the team are beginning to warm towards the Chilean’s philosophy.
Here’s how West Ham supporters responded to the win on Twitter.

These signings (managers and players) performances etc. I’m feeling optimistic about the new season.
