We Predict How West Ham United Will Fare In The First Six Games Of The New Season

|

Today the fixtures for the 2018 / 2019 season were revealed.

Although, as experience has shown us, we’ll not dwell too much on the dates at the moment knowing that they’re likely to change due to the TV companies hand-picking certain fixtures for live coverage.

But, what do, knowing the Hammers need to get off to a good start under their new boss, Manuel Pellegrini, the first half a dozen fixtures hold for West Ham as far as a possible points return goes?

Well, it’s fair to say that the fixture computer could have been a little kinder to the Hammers.

Two of our first three games are away from home, starting with a very difficult looking trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool. West Ham then return to the London Stadium to entertain Bournemouth before departing on another tough away trip, this time to take on Arsenal.

Here at Vital West Ham, trying to maintain some sort of sensibility, we reckon we’ll do well to take 4 points out of those first three games.

But, does it get any easier?

Well possibly!

Our fourth game of the new season sees the Hammers welcome Wolves to our part of London before, once again, we hit the road north, returning to Liverpool for the second time in three away games, to face Everton.

That’s followed by another London derby, this time against Chelsea, a club who could be, like ourselves, working under a new manager.

Once again, trying to be sensible, we reckon that to take 5 points from those three games would be good going.

So, in our view, those first six games will herald 9 points.

Is that a start to the 2018 / 2019 season you’d classify as good, poor or somewhere in between.
