Strong words, but now he has to be proved right, or they are really going to come back and bite him later on.

And the consequences of that would be so big that I don’t think it’s even worth thinking about, so for his sake as well as the club’s. Let’s just hope that he is right.

The sale of Grady Diangana was a move that upset quite a lot of people associated with the club to put it mildly, from fans to players, it was arguably one of the more controversial moves that West Ham United have made in recent times.

However, club co-owner David Sullivan has defended the club’s decision to sell the 22-year-old saying that we have plenty of wingers at our disposal that he was essentially surplus to requirements. He aired his views on talkSPORT with host Jim White:

So he appears to have put the onus on survival in a sense on the players that we have at the club.

And whilst it’s unknown whether or not keeping Diangana would make a major difference to how we play this season, it is something that will dangle like the Sword of Damocles over the head of the club this season if we were to get relegated say, with fans ready to use it as a contributing factor if we unfortunately did.

What about you? What did you make of Sullivan’s comments?
