Upton Park aftermath

Am I alone feeling that something has been taken away from us by knuckle-dragging lunatics at Upton Park on Tuesday night?

Before we are all given a thoroughly deserved slap we need to analyse some areas as to why and how this happened;

OFF THE PITCH

Glorified on the big screen Green Street was an example of idiocy – portraying a glamorous side to the 70`s and 80`s with gratuitous violence, for those too young to remember the darker days of going to a football match. A great example of what is meant here was when Junior Stanislas was seen smiling and laughing at the escaped lunatics after he had scored. Youngsters are impressionable and condoning the actions of over 25 years ago by digging up and breathing life into a nasty monster and then making a movie to show children what they missed out on. But then history has a habit of repeating itself.

Notorious bitter local rivals and much publicised consistent trouble makers from both sides of the Thames, were allowed to conduct their mission. Because there were no team supporters involved in the violence that ensued, regardless of who started what has been over publicised the question should be; who couldn`t see this was bound to happen? The evidence was compelling enough to suggest it was in the offing because of recent history in the behaviour from other incidents that follow the associated clubs in question and the known root causes for it.

ON THE PITCH

Passions were running high in the ground, a sinister feel in the air with those inside and the blue touch paper was lit with the early goal from the visitors which did nothing for the boiling cauldron of an atmosphere. The over elaborate goal celebrations from Junior when he dispatched his brace against a team from 2 leagues lower, I think we need to get a clear perspective of what is an achievement here. The team that should win the game on paper equalised late and then took the lead and eventually went on to win in extra time. Progression through to the 3rd round of the League Cup! Hardly a Champions League dream is it?

Now lets do some conscience pricking, for all those who stood and encouraged the morons dragging our club back to the 80`s, egging on the retards is the doing of the ignorant. Let`s hope that this is read by at least one of these spineless idiots, if you cheered and applauded their actions; PLEASE DON`T GO TO ANY MORE GAMES! As you are the very same idiots who booed Frank Lampard, John Terry and anyone else who once wore our shirt. So get the message: YOU`RE NOT WELCOME! And if you think you care for your team and class yourself as a supporter tell everyone you know involved to stay away too.

The aftermath of Tuesday 25th August 09 has left real supporters hanging their heads in shame for the actions of far too many.

Thankfully we are not all like these delinquents so please don`t paint us all with the same brush.
