Some West Ham United fans have been pondering on our famous 1-0 victory against Preston North End back in 2005 that saw us promoted to the Premier League.
The Championship play-off final was hosted by the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff, which was momentous in our long and illustrious history.
It took until the second half for us to break the deadlock after Tomas Repka struck the post in the first half. Having started brightly, we were largely frustrated by the Lancashire outfit.
Was 2005 our most memorable play-off victory?
Yes
No
Bobby Zamora scored the only goal of the game to send the Upton Park faithful back to the capital in a joyous mood.
Because of this, supporters were jubilant as they reflected on their memories of the afternoon’s proceedings and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that the day was “unforgettable”, while another stated that it was a “great day out”.
