West Ham have struggled for consistency so far this season, losing six of their opening 12 Premier League matches and having a daunting task against Manchester City on the horizon.
Manuel Pellegrini is yet to reap the rewards from his spending spree in the summer, which saw the Chilean boss splash in excess of £100m in the market, and another blow has been handed to the Hammers this week.
Already seeing new recruits Jack Wilshere and Carlos Sanchez sidelined through injury, full-back Ryan Fredericks is now set to be unavailable for the remainder of the calendar year after picking up an issue in the recent 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town.
Fredericks, signed on a free transfer from Fulham in the summer, has battled Pablo Zabaleta for a starting spot on the right side of defence this season and his absence leaves the Hammers lacking depth in that position.
