Transfer News: West Ham could steal a march on survival by poaching star from relegation rival

The situation at West Ham United is getting to the point where if the Hammers don’t make some kind of changes soon then they’ll be facing a season in the Championship come August. That’s the last thing the fans need, yet it’s a real worry now as a relegation battle looks to be hotting up.

With that being said, and with just a week left in the transfer window, the Irons need to act and try and make sure that they can get one over the likes of Aston Villa, Watford and Bournemouth, the three sides closest to them in the table.

With that in mind, it looks like David Moyes is set to do just that, and not only is he reportedly set to bring in a talented young player, but he’s set to try and bring in a player from one of their direct relegation rivals in Bournemouth, as the Hammers are testing the water for Ryan Fraser.

That news has come from the Daily Mail, and with Fraser’s contract at Dean Court expiring this summer, it’s no surprise that Moyes wants to try and lure the 25-year-old, who bagged a combined 21 goals and assists in the Premier League last season (Transfermarkt), to the London Stadium.

The report on Fraser states:

‘West Ham have expressed an interest in Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser who is out of contract in the summer.’

‘Fraser’s form this season hasn’t quite lived up to the performances of last, but due to the diminutive winger’s fast expiring contract, he may be subject to a late move this January transfer window.’

Will this transfer window be a big one?

‘Bournemouth may be hesitant to let one of their star players go at this stage of the campaign, given their own relegation woes, especially to a direct Premier League rival.’

‘Meanwhile, the Hammers have been rebuffed in an approach for former Leeds United midfielder Ronaldo Vieira at Sampdoria. They remain in talks over a loan for Roma’s Steven Nzonzi and have been offered Nantes midfielder, Abdoulaye Toure.’
