‘This club is my life’: £50,000-a-week West Ham ace hints that he wants to stay long-term

We have seen the club announce three new contracts this week, with Pablo Zabaleta and Nathan Holland all committing their immediate futures to West Ham.

The trio joined the likes of Declan Rice, Grady Diangana, Ben Johnson, and Nathan Trott in doing so since Christmas, but could another deal be on the cards for a £50,000-a-week Hammer in the not too distant future?

Mark Noble, who reportedly earns £50,000-per-week, has hinted in his column for the Evening Standard that he would be open to another extension to his current deal, which still has two years left to run and will take our captain to his 34th birthday.

“I have two more years on my contract and I want to savour every game,” he wrote. “No decisions have been made about what happens then.

“I feel I played well against Spurs and we won. The problem is you can play just as well in another game but lose, and no one really cares how well you did. That’s football.

“This club is my life. My son, Lenny, is here now and I watched the Under-16s on Tuesday.

“If I feel good, I would love to stay as long as I can. I’m 32 next week, I’ve played around 30 matches this season, have been lucky with injuries and with two games to go, I’m still training every day. For me, to play that amount of games again with the competition we have is phenomenal.

“The manager has substituted me a few times this season, especially lately, and we have conceded. I’m not saying I would have made a massive difference had I still been out there but as a player; I always want to be out there.

“I think he knows that with my output, he just wants to put on a fresh pair of legs — and I can’t complain. I like to think he also wants to make it possible for the fans to give me a round of applause, if we’re winning!”

Noble’s current contract had been set to expire in the summer of 2020, but as part of the deal reached back in 2015, the club were able to activate a one-year option, which means Mr West Ham’s time in East London will stretch to 17 years.

Whether he gets another extension beyond that will likely not be seen for a while, but despite his age, Noble has still been one of our most regular players this season.

In the Premier League alone, only six players have made more overall appearances for West Ham this term – including coming off the bench. Yet for starts, Noble (27) only falls behind Felipe Anderson (35), Declan Rice (33), Issa Diop (31), and the ever-present Lukasz Fabianski (36).

Jack Wilshere, on the other hand, has made six league appearances since moving from Arsenal – twice off the bench – despite the hype that surrounded his arrival.
