West Ham United may struggle to offload Jordan Hugill in the summer after yet another dismal display for Middlesbrough brought a tirade of criticism on social media.

Hugill was handed his 25th appearance of the season on Wednesday night, as Tony Pulis opted to start the £10million David Moyes flop against promotion rivals Sheffield United.

In his previous 24 Championship games, the 26-year-old had only managed to find the net six times, with his last successful strike coming in a 1-1 draw at Millwall last month.

Boro fans were quick to point out on social media after the game that Pulis would have been better off starting DR Congo international forward Britt Assombalonga instead, rather than leaving it until the 67th minute before introducing him to the game.

One of the glaring criticisms’ the Riverside fanbase had on Hugill’s latest goalless performance was that he struggled to play as a solo-striker, and with how Manuel Pellegrini has set up the Hammers, this issue would only continue should he fail to leave the London Stadium permanently in the summer…
