Some West Ham United have been reminiscing after they watched highlights of our 4-0 victory against Barnsley in 2012.
The Hammers were playing Championship football during the 2011/12 campaign and this victory helped us on our way back to the Premier League. Goals from Mark Noble, Ricardo Vaz Te, Nicky Maynard and Kevin Nolan secured all three points at the Oakwell Stadium.
The win moved us into second place above Southampton and we set a club record of 12 away league wins in a single season. We went on to beat Blackpool in the Play-off final to acquire our ticket back into the top flight.
Sam Allardyce led us back to the big time but was soon on the receiving end of some scathing criticism from fans before his inevitable departure in 2015.
One fan said that it was the “good old days”, while another jokingly stated that it makes him “want to go down again” to revel in some form of glory on the pitch.
What a season, makes me want to go down again 🤣 https://t.co/RiN5FFWmry

That Nolan goal is one of my all time favourites from him.
Remember this game – they announced at half-time we’d drunk the away bar dry and it was shut— niall mcdonald (@niall_mcdonald) April 6, 2020
