Samir Nasri may not have played many minutes since joining West Ham over the summer, but Claret & Hugh are suggesting the club are about to offer the Frenchman a new deal.
When Irons fan account West Ham News shared the speculative report on social media, though, supporters were quick to see through the claims, mainly because C&H had stated that the former Manchester City man is only on loan at the London Stadium.
Nasri is, of course, one of our players until at least the summer, as we signed him on a short-term deal following the end of his drugs ban.
We will have to negotiate a new contract with the 31-year-old if we want to retain his services going forward, though, with his current deal only running for this season and on a rumoured £80,000-a-week.
That figure is also put into question by Claret & Hugh, as they are declaring that he is only on £50,000-a-week at present, but receives a bonus £20k for each appearance he makes.
The suggested new deal will see the appearance bonus stay in his contract, while raising his base wage to £70,000-a-week.
Nasri now has a final seven games to prove once and for all that he would be deserving of any new contract – at any price – although Manuel Pellegrini is also mentioned in C&H’s article, as the Chilean is supposedly already convinced in his former player’s abilities.
Here’s how the London Stadium faithful saw the news when shared on Twitter…

He was free not a loan his previous club let him go because he served a lengthy drugs ban . He’s on a initial deal till the end of the season and then we have a option to extend by 2 years depending on performance and fitness
