No points from the first six available has caused the alarm bells to ring at West Ham United Football Club.

Sat at the foot of the table, doubts are starting to creep in as to whether the £100 million spent this summer was spent wisely.

But, in the aftermath of the defeat, at the hands of Bournemouth, our new boss, Manuel Pellegrini, has used the social media to infer things will get better, commenting:

But, on the back of a second consecutive loss, where do the Hammers support see as the weak point in the side?

Well, according to those who frequent social media, it’s the midfield but in particular our lack of a decent defensive midfielder:

But, is that a view you concur with?

Is our lack of a decent defensive midfielder the reason why our defence is being opened up?

Please feel free to comment in the facility beneath this article.

But, one final comment suggests it may get worse before it gets better with the next fixture being against Arsenal, this coming weekend:

  • I WAS AT THE GAME AND I THOUGHT WE WERE VERY POOR FOR 90 MINS,WE HAVE NO CREATIVITY AND OUR MIDFIELD 2 ARE VERY SLOW.CANT BELIEVE THIS IS THE BEST WE CAN OFFER.

  • One top class player would make all the difference. Ngolo Kante ,in my opinion, made Leicester champions! Yes we do need a holding midfield player. Noble was a great player – not anymore. The real truth is West Ham have underperformed for years. The club must have sustained investment and a clear plan.Manchester United took a while before they were successful. Ferguson had some very poor results early on and look what he achieved!.

  • Noble has been the problem for last 3 years. He is awful , talentless and unable to lead by example .

  • I was not surprised how poor arthur and ogbonna were.
Arthur is not a defender and ogbonna loses his way. Bad free kick to give away and the referee would probably given a penalty against him if Bournemouth hadn’t have scored. Bring in cresswell and rice. Also isn’t drop worth a place.
Holding midfielder has to be Sanchez and not noble. Don’t start with Snodgrass either. I thought Hernandez should have stayed on.
    Anyway that’s my thoughts.

  • Not a Noble basher, but the fact is the bloke never has been Premier League standard.
All the cobblers about him being a local bloke – if he was a foreign player he would have been binned ages ago.
Unfortunately, despite Spending £100 mil we are going to get some more pastings – still unsure about Pellegrini as he managed world class players at City – could be another Avram Grant situation.
CDM as already mentioned was top priority, and we didn’t do anything ( oh yeah, Sanchez, sorry !) we desperately need some strength and pace in midfield.
I would still take Ya Ya on Year contract – certainly not slower than our plodders but he is still a fortress and will
win tackles and actually pass to one of our players !
Roll on the January window !

  • Cannot disagree with noble comments! Been saying the same for 3 years lol! He should have hung the boots up after his testimonial ! His legs were gone then and embarrassingly more now ! I don’t feel sorry for him no more as he knows he’s been underperforming for a while now and is in denial! He’s thee main problem but the fullbacks and 10 haven’t been addressed either zabba cresswell noble massuaku and now slowboat Benson 40 a day Wilshire ! Not addressing the dmf in pre season shows lack of vision and it shows !
