West Ham have found it difficult to find stability under Manuel Pellegrini this season, losing six of their opening 12 Premier League matches.
The Hammers spent in excess of £100m during the summer bolstering the squad but there is still room for improvements to be made, which will likely lead Pellegrini to dip into the market in January.
Fresh reports suggest that Chelsea’s Gary Cahill is being considered to provide further depth to the heart of West Ham’s defence but many fans on social media are not convinced he would be a good addition.
The Hammers signed Fabian Balbuena and Issa Diop during the summer, while they also have Declan Rice, Angelo Ogbonna and Winston Reid as options – although the former has impressed playing in front of the back-line as a holding midfielder.
Now 32, Cahill would become the latest veteran to move to East London and this has also irritated some supporters. We have gathered some of the best responses below.
