Some West Ham fans get welcome transfer news – report

|

Manuel Pellegrini and the board may be keen to sign Edin Dzeko, but his arrival at the London Stadium would not be welcomed by every corner of the fanbase.

Fans opposed to the veteran striker joining in the summer, though, will be happy to hear that the Bosnia-Herzegovina captain has decided where his future lies, and it will not be back in the Premier League.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that Dzeko has now categorically stated that he will stay in Italy, whether Inter Milan make a move for his services or not, and that he has rejected our advances.

We have been heavily linked with a move for his signature lately, and, as soon ago as Wednesday, reports emerged suggesting the board were pushing to get a deal arranged as quickly as possible, as Dzeko was beginning to hesitate on a reunion with Pellegrini.

Roma lowering their asking price from €25million (£21.6m) to €15m (£12.9m) played a great deal into the matter, too, but alas Mario Husillos will have to look elsewhere for our next target man.

Husillos could look to strikers linked with a move to Stratford in the winter, like Maxi Gomez and Duvan Zapata.

Zapata is still being linked with a move to the London Stadium by the Italian press, as Calciomercato reported last week that he is considered to be our ‘forbidden dream’ as Atalanta will demand €50million (£43.2m) for him.

Gomez, on the other, has a release clause that practically halves from £42million to £22m should Celta Vigo drop out of La Liga this season, and the Balaidos natives are currently only a single point above the drop zone.
