For newly promoted Reading, victory at Upton Park meant a fourth successive Premiership game unbeaten. The late clearance from Yossi Benayoun’s effort was Reading’s saviour.

Seol struck the spectacular winner but wantaway midfielder Steve Sidwell cleared a Yossi Benayoun effort off the line.

Reading manager Steve Coppell: ‘Sidwell has been terrific. In many ways I’d like to have 11 players who are coming to the end of their contract.

‘It is his prerogative to perform so people are interested in him and at the moment that benefits Reading.

‘We appreciate him, we appreciate what he does. He covered a lot of ground today and to get back and head Benayoun’s effort off the line – it was almost physically freakish the way he got under the bar to adjust and put it over.’
