West Ham United have issued a statement condemning the abuse shouted at Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah during the Monday night clash at the London Stadium, and fans have been having their say.
The abuse directed towards the Egypt international came as he prepared to take a corner near a group of home supporters, but at least one individual took the occasion too far.
The fan in question could be heard shouting expletives and taunts based on the winger’s religion, which led to an official club and police investigation.
West Ham completed their investigation into the matter on Thursday, February 7, and issued the following statement:
“After a thorough and immediate investigation following the abhorrent racist abuse aimed at Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah on Monday night, West Ham United can confirm that it has handed evidence to the Metropolitan Police.
“The Club is unequivocal in its stance – such abuse will not be tolerated. There is no place or excuse for this kind of behaviour.”
When shared on the club’s official Twitter page, fans took the opportunity to share their views on the matter…
Well done ???? anyone who calls this banter is wrong and anyone who thinks this is ok should be embarrassed and ashamed!

Well Done WHU, racism should not be tolerated anywhere. It’s 2019 and times have changed, keep these racist out of our club for good. A small ban is not acceptable it should be a lifetime ban for anybody using racist language at the club I love.

Someone’s front door will be going through this morning. Instant life ban and probably nicked as well. There’s plenty of ways to disrespect someone without bringing colour race or religion into a football stadium

If the club can track down the person who shouted the abuse can they track down the seat number of the man who filmed it and find out who sold him a ticket. If a whu fan ban him ,if west ham sold it him through ticket sales Something very wrong with the process if so

Great
This is good to hear and hope the culprit is caughtAfter this investigation is complete can you then make a full investigation into how away fans are getting home tickets at London Stadium continuously this season. Needs the club to take seriously before gets out of hand
