Goals are a rarity at the moment. Since we stuck three past Spurs at White Hart Lane we`ve struggled.

Once again on Saturday, this time against Aston Villa, we once again failed to field a recognized striker.

With Andy Carroll and Ricardo Vaz Te side-lined and with Carlton Cole and Mladen Petric not 100% match-fit, it`s fair to say that Sam`s hands are somewhat tied.

However, goals can come from other areas and Sam has asked for the remainder of the squad to share the burden.

It`s a plea that can succeed with Sam remarking to the media,

“Everybody scored a goal last season – about 18 of the players who were in the 25 scored a goal.”

“We are getting the defending side right with six clean sheets out of 10 and we are getting the attacking side right, apart from the finishing.”

“We have to be composed and clinical whoever the chance falls to.”

The problem as I foresee it though is that only strikers tend to really possess that clinical and composed trait required!
