Reported action taken by Pellegrini & Husillos is smart and shows West Ham are getting things right – Opinion

|

It would seem to be a case of ‘so far so good’ where West Ham United and their summer business is concerned at the moment.

The combination of Mario Husillos and Manuel Pellegrini looks to be working exceptionally well once again this time around as the club appear to be working quickly to solve a number of the issues that were highlighted throughout the previous campaign.

But, what is also impressive and shows that we are getting things right this summer, is that those working within the recruitment department are not wasting time on deals they do not feel can be done quickly enough and are moving on to other targets they feel can benefit them.

According to a report by The Guardian, West Ham gave up on deals for Andre Gomes and Stanislav Lobotka as soon as they realised possible moves could take a long time to complete. Although both men would have been solid acquisitions in the centre of midfield, wasting time on trying to get them could have cost us the opportunity of signing other players.

Pablo Fornals’ expected arrival is a deal that was kept incredibly quiet and one that caught almost everybody off guard – and it would also seem the duo have not spent too long on making it happen.

We have already discussed why the Villarreal man would be a great addition to the West Ham side in a previous article, however, that will not stop us from continuing to highlight just how good of a signing it is for us.

At the age of 23, Fornals is the type of player that we can look to build our future around and it appears Husillos and Pellegrini are looking to try and use that age as a marker for some of their other rumoured targets as well.

Ozan Kabak and Maxi Gomez have both been heavily linked with a move to the London Stadium and they are both individuals that would be exceptional additions for us moving forward if we can get deals for them across the line.

Kabak would help to improve the defence even further as the 19-year-old has already produced a number of impressive performances for Stuttgart as the centre-back managed to put in an average of 2.5 tackles per game and could be an ideal partner for Issa Diop in the future.

Gomez has been solid in front of goal with 13 strikes in 33 La Liga starts and two substitute appearances in a year where Celta de Vigo have struggled, and the 22-year-old would have to be considered an upgrade on the options we currently have available in the squad.
