Report: West Ham United clearly not taking things seriously with their latest attempts to sign Tarkowski

|

Does anyone remember when Arsenal tried to activate Luis Suarez’ release clause by bidding £40,000,001?

Well that’s the same kind of vibes that I’m getting with the latest news coming out of West Ham United when it comes to our chase for James Tarkowski. According to a report from Sky Sports News, West Ham United have failed in their latest attempts to sign the Burnley defender after a bid of £31m for the 27-year-old was also rejected following the previous failed bid of £30m.

Now there’s trying to get your target for the best price, and then there’s just messing around, which is exactly what West Ham United are guilty of doing here.

We know that the board aren’t exactly going to be the most generous when it comes to transfer time, with some reports claiming that the budget is only going to be £30m (so how we managed to bid £31m is beyond me to start with), but if we just take this example on its own, what sort of message is it sending out to other clubs that we might be buying from? Epecially seeing as now it looks more than likely that we won’t be getting Tarkowski.

Will we get the Tarkowski deal done one way or another?

Yes

No

This shows that we are being far too passive when it comes to our targets, and we’re essentially being dictated by the club we’re buying from, when really if the club wants to move forward, it should be the other way round.

We’ve essentially given the upper hand to any and all clubs that we want to buy from, because they know just how cheap we are going to try and play it. And if the club is going to have to sell more players in order to generate some funds for David Moyes then so be it.

But whilst the club are trying to move the club forward inch by inch with bids like this, other clubs are taking major strides in how they do their business, and it’s going to leave us behind.
