West Ham United have been linked with a move to bring Hellas Verona manager Ivan Juric to the London Stadium, according to reports.

With football currently suspended, Hammers’ board members have had the opportunity to assess their current situation. Current boss David Moyes was brought in for his second tenure in East London.

However, we are currently level on points in 16th place with Watford and Bournemouth, with the Cherries sitting in the drop zone with nine games left to play of the current campaign. There is a real danger that we could be relegated this season.

According to the Italian newspaper L’Arena, West Ham have “concrete” interest in the Croatian tactician and have done so for the past two months.

The report adds that joint-owner David Sullivan is a big fan of Juric’s “kick and rush” approach to playing football and the way that he likes to play, which has been described as “just spectacular enough to produce fireworks at the right time”.

Would Ivan Juric be a success at West Ham?

Yes

Yes

No

Juric’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign after only being appointed in the summer by the Serie A outfit. From 26 games in charge, he has a points-per-game average of 1.35, which is the second-highest of his managerial career.

If we managed to stay up, it would be harsh on Moyes to lose his job, yet again, due to no fault of his own. With all due respect, we need to send a clear message that we are being serious as a club once again.

Juric is unproven, with only a certain amount of games at the highest level. It would be worth monitoring his progress, but foolish to bring him in ahead of Moyes.
