Report: West Ham exploring the opportunity to sign youngster on trial on a free transfer

|

West Ham United are thought to be interested in signing Mich’el Parker and are believed to be exploring the possibility of signing him on a free transfer, according to a report by Football Insider.

The Englishman is 21-years-old and was recently released from Liverpool U23’s. However, the young centre-back is currently having a trial with West Ham U23’s with the view of earning himself a contract at the London Stadium.

A West Ham source has told Football Insider: “that the club are weighing up the possibility of taking advantage of Parker’s status as a free agent to sign him for their development squad.”

A report has recently suggested that the club are looking to strengthen in the central defensive area of the field, meaning this could be one of the signings they had in mind.

It’s highly unlikely that Parker would start for the first-team straight away though, but perhaps the Englishman is being brought in as one for the future, with Fabian Balbuena and Angelo Ogbonna both being over 28-years-old.

Liverpool originally signed the 21-year-old from Arsenal back in 2014 but was released by the club in July 2018.

Due to the lack of data about Parker, it’s hard to compare him to current players, so we just have to trust the judgment of the clubs scouts and board with this one, although perhaps the idea of a partnership forming between him and Goncalo Cardoso in the future might be enough to get us excited, despite Issa Diop still being around for the time being.
