Report: West Ham boss confirms £100k p/w maestro is out for vital PL fixture this weekend

Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that Jack Wilshere is out of this weekend’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United.

The West Ham boss confirmed in a press conference yesterday via Football London that the 27-year-old midfielder has been ruled out of Saturday’s game against Steve Bruce’s struggling Magpies side with a small groin problem.

Pellegrini told the press about the club’s latest injury news: “Jack has a small problem, not 100% fit. For him, it is a risk to come back before he has completely recovered. Winston Reid played last night without a problem, Antonio and Lukasz Fabianski are still recovering.”

Wilshere, who earns a reported £100,000-per-week at the Hammers according to Spotrac, has been in-and-out of the West Ham starting XI for the majority of the season, with stats from Transfermarkt showing that the midfield playmaker has started just four games across all competitions for the Irons, coming off the bench a further four times.

The former Arsenal midfielder’s time at West Ham has been plagued with injuries ever since leaving the north London club in 2018, with stats from Transfermarkt showing that the England international has missed 30 games already for the Hammers due to injury.

There were rumours circling that the Hammers might cut Wilshere’s contract with the club short due to his severe lack of game time as well as lack of good performances whenever on the pitch, yet Claret and Hugh reported earlier this week that the midfielder will not be leaving the east London side any time soon.

Wilshere, therefore, joins the likes of Michail Antonio and Lukasz Fabianski on the injury table, with the fellow West Ham players currently out with long-term injuries sustained earlier in the season.
