In an email exchange with a source at the club, Claret and Hugh has revealed that the plan is to keep Issa Diop this summer and to not let him leave for a new team in the next transfer window.

The defender has had an impressive time since joining the side and looks set to have some successful years in the game ahead of him.

For Hammers fans, then, the hope would be that he embarks on such success with the club he is with at the moment, though speculation is bound to prove rife whilst we continue to worry about relegation.

Indeed, you can see why he might be tempted by a move if certain clubs came in for him, but it seems as though the Irons are going to be steadfast in their approach to trying to keep him in house.

In the email exchange, Claret and Hugh revealed this pretty blunt line:

“We have no interest whatsoever in listening to offers for Issa.”

Simone Zaza, 16/17?

A good sign from the Hammers, then, and there will be hope that they stay true to their word, though we know that the level of trust in those that run the club isn’t particularly high right now.

However, we have to take this statement for what it is, and it’s pleasing enough that they’re aware of the importance of Diop to the side amid reports in Spain claiming interest from La Liga giants FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, plus claims closer to home of intrigue from Manchester United and London rivals Arsenal.
