Report: Ex-team-mate offers West Ham’s £80,000p/w flop a lifeline but a deal looks unlikely

Samir Nasri’s name has been in the news a little bit recently, although that might not be surprising considering he will be a free agent following the conclusion of the weekend.

It is hardly a shock that we are letting him go as we have mentioned in a previous article on Vital West Ham that he has been nothing short of a flop during his six months with.

Nasri hardly had the impact that many of us would have liked to have seen from him, especially considering he was taking home an alleged £80,000-a-week for next to nothing (The Sun); he managed just six appearances and put in two performances that were worth mentioning.

Firstly, the West Australian newspaper has claimed the playmaker is top of the newly formed A-League outfit Western United’s transfer list as they look to sign a marquee name as they try and burst onto the scene.

However, it would seem the 32-year-old could have an opportunity to be a little closer to home (whether that be England or France) as a former team-mate of his is thought to have given him a chance of continuing his football career within Europe.

According to a report by The Sun, Vincent Kompany is thought to have already been in contact with him about the possibility of joining up at Anderlecht.

The former Manchester City captain was appointed as player/manager at the end of the season after he decided the time was right to leave the Premier League champions and it seems as though he wants to reunite with Nasri.

However, money appears to be the game for the playmaker (and not necessarily the football) as it is claimed he is after a final huge payday worth around £3.5million a year, so perhaps he will be playing his football Down Under after all.
