Report: £80,000p/w West Ham flop could make surprise move this summer

|

West Ham United flop Samir Nasri has emerged as a surprise target for Western United this summer.

The West Australian newspaper has claimed the playmaker is top of the newly formed A-League side’s transfer list as they look to sign a marquee name.

Nasri is not thought to be short of options this summer as a number of clubs overseas are thought to be interested in him, however, the former France international is believed to be open to the idea of playing Down Under.

As we mentioned in a previous article here on Vital West Ham, things hardly went well for the 31-year-old as he made just six appearances for us as he had to spend a large portion of the time on the sidelines nursing injuries (Transfermarkt).

Although he provided two assists in those matches and put in a couple of decent performances, the 31-year-old hardly did anything to justify the rumoured £80,000-a-week wages he was on (The Sun), and it was hardly a surprise to hear that we would not be handing him a new deal.

West Ham have managed to replace him this summer already though with the arrival of Pablo Fornals, who is looking set to be a class addition to the squad moving forward if his performances for Spain’s Under-21 side are anything to go by.

The former Villarreal man has put in a number of key contributions for his country in their group matches so far and it will be interesting to see what he brings to the pitch in the knockout rounds of the tournament.
