Report: 17-goal attacker appears to distance himself from any potential West Ham move

|

Espanyol striker Borja Iglesias has appeared to rule out a move to West Ham United this summer.

We have been linked with what feels like every single striker that is capable of scoring a large number of goals over the last few weeks, although the Spaniard had not been one of those names to have been mentioned before – but we would not be surprised if he were to be a name on our radar.

Iglesias has been a star for the La Liga side and continued his impressive form for the Catalonia outfit last season, bagging himself 17 goals in his 37 appearances in the top-flight and guiding them to a place in the Europa League (Transfermarkt).

However, in an interview with La Voz de Galicia, he was asked the question about whether he would be willing to join us and flatly put any possible rumour to bed before they could even start. To be fair, the honesty from the 26-year-old is rather refreshing at a time like this.

“In principle nothing. Nothing like that,” he told the media outlet after discussing whether he could do the same as his friend Roberto and follow him to the London Stadium this summer.

If West Ham were to move for him – and it would have to be a big if now following those comments – he would not necessarily be a bad option to sign this summer.

As mentioned, Iglesias is the prolific forward we have been desperate to have in our side and could be an excellent alternative to Maxi Gomez should our pursuit of the Celta de Vigo star become tedious and even more frustrating than it already is.

But, we know the 26-year-old is not going to be the only striker linked with West Ham over the next few months, so it might just be his turn to have his name peddled through the rumour mill at this moment in time.
