‘Proved me wrong’: Lots of West Ham fans were gushing over club tweet regarding their ‘best bit of business’

West Ham United signed Lukasz Fabianski a year ago on Thursday and fans took to Twitter to share their reactions to his debut 12 months as a Hammer.

Having joined from Swansea City last summer for a fee of £7million (BBC), there would have been some doubt about how good of an addition he was following their relegation from the Premier League, however, he blew all of those doubters out of the water with some incredible performances for us in between the sticks.

The Poland international was certainly kept busy for us throughout the season, as he made the most saves in the Premier League last season and was, subsequently, awarded with our prestigious Hammer of the Year award at the end of the campaign for his outstanding efforts.

The goalkeeper position was an area of the pitch that had needed sorting over the past few years as the likes of Joe Hart (and even Adrian at times) hardly filled many of us with confidence that they would be able to keep the ball out of the back of our net.

As the season went on, he continued to make the £7m transfer fee look a bargain and now we have a goalkeeper we can trust for a few years to come at the London Stadium – it is a shame that he has already reached 34.

Indeed, fans were delighted with his arrival 12 months on and many took to Twitter to reply to the club’s tweets regarding Fabianski’s capture.

One fan stated the Polish shot-stopper was ‘one of the best goalkeepers in West Ham history’ whilst another appeared to be pleasantly surprised as he admitted he was wrong about his initial thoughts regarding the veteran.

Here are just some of their reactions…
