While much of our attention has been rightly focused on the prospect of new additions, the news that Andy Carroll and Winston Reid have sustained injuries serves as a bitter blow.
As the Sports Mole reports, both Carroll and Reid will be sidelined for three months having incurred injuries. The former has sustained an ankle injury, while the latter is absent due to a knee injury.
Here’s how West Ham supporters have responded to the news on Twitter.
Honestly can't wait for the day Andy Carroll leaves our club.

@WestHamUtd please get rid. £180k per week these two players are costing this club. Imagine the calibre of player we could for that amount of money

Verdict:
Naturally, it’s massively frustrating to be dealt a double injury blow during pre-season preparations. This is especially true this summer, as the players are required to familiarise themselves with Pelligrini’s demands and his playing style.
In an ideal world, every single player would be available for selection as we could develop our fitness and gain crucial momentum as we approach the forthcoming season. Without question, it promises to be an exceedingly exciting year for the team.
