You only have to Google the name Edin Dzeko to come up with a number of reports from recent days to suggest that the striker is right on the verge of joining our club.
According to the Express, we’re willing to match his wage demands and bring him in this summer whilst it looks as though Roma are ready to see him leave the club in the window.
Certainly, all the persisting rumours are great to see but, as always with this club, you can never quite believe your eyes until the player is holding the claret and blue shirt aloft – and even then you wonder…
Dzeko, for me, would be a decent short-term signing for next season and even the one after, so I’m happy to see him linked with out club.
I do think, though, we need to approach the story with caution as, as has been the case in seasons gone by, the delivery hasn’t always quite been there from these rumours.
So, yeah, let’s enjoy the idea of it, but let’s not get too invested, eh? We’ll probably end up with Carlton Cole back. Again.
