‘Our poorest signing in a long time’: Some West Ham fans are furious with Pellegrini addition

|

West Ham were knocked out of the EFL Cup by London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday evening, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side advancing into the quarter-finals after a routine 3-1 victory at the London Stadium.

Heung-Min Son scored either side of the break to put Spurs in control but some hope was restored after substitute Lucas Perez found the net after 71 minutes – but Fernando Llorente’s effort just four minutes later ended any chance of a dramatic fightback occurring.

The result continues a disappointing start to the season for Manuel Pellegrini, who will now have to focus solely on the Premier League until the Hammers’ FA Cup campaign begins in the New Year, and fans were left disappointed by one summer signing.

Club-record addition Felipe Anderson was sacrificed at half-time for the introduction of Robert Snodgrass, who provided the equaliser for Lucas Perez’s goal, and the Brazilian left a lot to be desired with another disappointing performance.

West Ham fans certainly expect more from their most expensive addition and fans took to social media to criticise the winger. We have gathered some of the best reactions below.
