Opinion: West Ham would be mad to sell this youngster as has been rumoured

|

West Ham United fans are having a really strange time this season. The Hammers have been going through a lot so far, and it looks like the chaos isn’t going to stop anytime soon, especially seeing as the January transfer window is fast approaching.

The winter window will be a very interesting one, and it looks like the rumours are going to start coming thick and fast, with the latest one being extremely strange in the circumstances. With that being said, the rumour in question is regarding a potential outgoing as opposed to an incoming.

The player we’re talking about is the 22-year-old striker Albian Ajeti. The Irons’ signed the Swiss striker from FC Basel for a fee of £8m over the summer (BBC), and since that move the young forward has only managed a meagre 28 minutes across seven games this season (Transfermarkt).

The rumour has come from Claret & Hugh, and it is absolutely ludicrous. The Hammers have yet to try Ajeti as a lone striker or in a partnership with Sebastien Haller properly, and until he’s had a reasonable crack in the starting eleven then it seems crazy to be prepared to sell him.

Should he be moved on in the new year, the chances that the 22-year-old’s value has grown in the last six months and 280 minutes of time on the pitch are extremely slim, and that would mean any sale may see them make a loss on the Swiss forward.

Should Albian Ajeti be sold in January?

Yes

No

Obviously, this may not happen, but if it does then the Hammers will have to wait and see who gets signed to replace Ajeti, but at the moment when any supposed incoming hasn’t been mentioned, this one sounds like a ludicrous piece of business.
