Opinion: West Ham United just cannot afford to lose incredible starlet

|

You may or may not have seen what Grady Diangana did this weekend, but if you’re yet to see the video of him that’s been doing the rounds on social media then it’s well worth finding. West Ham fans all know what the young winger is capable of when he’s firing, and for West Brom, he showed his skill.

On Sunday, during the Baggies 5-1 win over Swansea at The Hawthorns, a win that saw them take back the top spot from Leeds United, who stole it for one day after they beat Huddersfield, the West Ham loanee pulled off a simply sensational piece of trickery.

The West Ham loanee controlled a long cross-field ball on his chest right against the touchline, took a couple of deft touches with his head with the ball in midair to keep it in play before then flicking the ball over the head of the on-rushing Kyle Naughton.

Anyone who hasn’t seen it can find the clip on Sky Sports, and for the Irons, it’s a chance to see what their young man can do. However, it could be something that attracts the kind of attention that the Hammers really do not want.

West Brom, whether they win promotion or not, will want Diangana on a permanent deal. Given the state of the wingers at The London Stadium, though, there is a spot for the youngster at the club in the senior side next season, and it’s a chance the fans want to see him take.

Should Diangana be recalled this January?

Yes

No

Keeping hold of the young wide-man is not going to be easy given how he’s been starring for the Baggies on-loan, but he’s shown what he can do and is clearly making himself known as a player who the Irons simply have to keep a hold of, no matter who comes knocking for him.
