Opinion: Prolific West Ham target would be the perfect deputy to Antonio

West Ham target Mohamed Bayo could potentially sign for the club in January and would be a great competition for star striker Michail Antonio.

According to several reports, including The Sun, the Hammers could be eyeing up a potential £10million move for the in-form Guinea striker who is taking the French Ligue 1 by storm.

The 23-year-old striker helped Clermont get promoted last season into the top division in France, scoring 22 goals and producing seven assists as well. Now he is doing the same in Ligue 1, having already showed his goal scoring abilities this season.

Bayo has scored five goals and made two assists in nine appearances so far, aiding his team up to 14th in the league with three wins.

While the prolific striker is still young and has lots to prove, it is clear to see that there is definitely potential for the future. A move by West Ham in January could definitely be something that would excite the fan base.

Standing at 6ft 2in, the Guinea international could provide the Hammers with a great aerial threat in front of goal. On top of that, Bayo loves to make runs into the box and chase down defenders, allowing him to get into good scoring positions for his team.

For £10million Bayo could definitely be a bargain for West Ham and David Moyes, as the club continue to look for a second striker.

The Hammers definitely need more depth in that position and while he may not take Antonio’s spot in the starting XI straight away, he would provide tough competition for the forward going into the second half of the season.

If West Ham were to acquire his signature this January, then supporters can look forward to watching an exciting player for future years to come.
