Opinion: Newcastle ace would be a superb fit at Pellegrini’s West Ham

|

West Ham fans are desperate for a couple more signings after welcoming Pablo Fornals and Sebastien Haller.

The attacking pair have sorted out one end of the Hammers’ side, and now the club could do with a more defensive midfielder, with Isaac Hayden being a perfect fit, having been linked earlier this summer and recently brought up by ExWHUemployee.

The Newcastle man has long wanted out of St. James’ Park for family reasons, yet he’s never allowed any of his off-field issues impact his form on it and has remained entirely professional throughout the course of the 2018/19 season.

Hayden re-affirmed his desire to leave Newcastle two weeks back in The Chronicle, citing the same reason as always as he has a desire to be closer to his wife and daughter down south. The midfielder also went on to claim that despite his stellar 2019 form he doesn’t think he’s played his best football yet.

If that’s the case, and after seeing Hayden perform for the Geordies very well last season in the second half of the campaign, then Manuel Pellegrini will be just one of a number of interested Premier League managers, as the young midfielder has so much to offer.

At the age of just 24-years-old, Hayden certainly is a very mature player for his age, and Rafa Benitez made a solid top-flight midfield pivot out of the ex-Arsenal man and North-Shields-born local lad Sean Longstaff.

However, alongside Declan Rice, Hayden has the potential to kick on and become even better. The only issue is the fact that the club have to sell first, as per ExWHUemployee on Twitter, although should the club be able to move on Pedro Obiang then bringing Hayden in could work out as the funds would be generated as well as a spot in the squad freed up.

Obiang is one who’s been linked away as per Ex too. The reliable West Ham transfer twitter guru claimed on his The West Ham Way podcast that Obiang would be on his way out soon, and should the Spanish-born midfielder leave, there’s no reason why the Newcastle man can’t come in as an ideal replacement.
