Opinion: Multi-million deadline day deal would be West Ham dream

|

West Ham fans have already had the joy of signing one massive striker on a large fee as they welcomed the signing of Sebastien Haller for £45m, but now he could be set to have some real competition in the form of Moussa Marega.

According to A Bola, the Mali striker, who recently met back up with his Porto teammates, could be set to leave the Estadio do Dragao for West ham in a deadline deal worth up to £36.6m, equivalent to the player’s 40m euro release clause.

Last season saw the 28-year-old bag an impressive 32 combined goals and assists from his second-striker role (21 goals and 11 assists), Transfermarkt, and he certainly looks to be worth his salt as the Hammers are looking at bringing him in.

The issue, as ever, will come down to money. Whether or not Manuel Pellegrini’s side can afford to shell out on the striker’s wages and the transfer fee is yet to be seen, but should they be able to afford him it would certainly be worth bringing in the extra firepower up front.

Across his career so far, Marega has played his football in France, Tunisia and Portugal and it could now be time for the striker to play his football in a 4th country, with West Ham an option who are after the player as they chase down a 3rd striker.

Haller and Marega playing as a two up front for the Irons looks and sounds like it would work and produce plenty of goals, especially if Pellegrini can incorporate the likes of Manuel Lanzini, Pablo Fornals and Felipe Anderson behind them, giving the ammunition to his frontmen.
