Opinion: Ex-Liverpool manager just isn’t the right fit at West Ham

|

West Ham fans are getting increasingly concerned about the situation at their club at the moment. The Hammers are absolutely desperate for their form to improve, seeing as they’ve won just one game out of their last nine, and rumours of a new manager are circling.

Pellegrini does have a long time left on his contract. When he was brought into the club he signed a deal until 2021, meaning that the Chilean will have to to be paid off if he is sacked. Then there’s the fact that the man being touted as his replacement is currently still at a different club.

The man in question is the former Liverpool and Newcastle man Rafa Benitez. The Spaniard is being looked at as a Pellegrini replacement (The Mirror), and the report also claims that the Irons were keen on bringing in Benitez back in 2015 until Real Madrid came calling at the 11th hour.

Now, though, with Benitez managing in China with Super League club Dalian Yifang, he’s the man who Karen Brady, David Gold and David Sullivan are looking at as an option for if Pellegrini does leave, but he doesn’t look like the right kind of manager for the job.

Pellegrini joined the club having previously managed in China and now that he’s struggling a lot has been made by the fans about a lack of ambition by taking a job in Asia, which is a stick that could also be used to beat Benitez with if he does get the job.

For this to happen, Pellegrini will need to continue to flop this season, as it’s reported that he’s going to get a chance to arrest the ongoing slump in form, although should Rafa come in the chances are that not a lot will change given how he performed at St. James’ Park.

Who would you want to replace Pellegrini?

Arteta

Howe

Ten Haag

The Magpies scored just 81 goals in 76 games in the Premier League in his last two seasons, and his defensive outlook likely wouldn’t go down at all well with the supporters, who would much rather see the Irons bring in a progressive attacking manager.
