Opinion: Bringing talented young loanee back makes no sense for West Ham

|

Grady Diangana has been given a wonderful chance by West Ham United, as he’s been loaned out to ply his trade for Slaven Bilic at West Brom, a chance for him to get consistent first-team football and stretch his legs on a regular basis, something which has led to plenty of goals and assists.

However, just because he’s fit and firing at The Hawthorns with the Baggies doesn’t mean he should be brought back to The London Stadium. His form is sublime as a result of his minutes, and at West Ham he just wouldn’t get the same look in at the minute.

At Diangana’s parent club the likes of Andriy Yarmolenko, Robert Snodgrass, Pablo Fornals, Manuel Lanzini, Felipe Anderson and Michail Antonio are all ahead of him in the pecking order in the wide and attacking midfield areas.

However, with the 21-year-old in fine form, bagging four and assisting three in his first 12 games in the Championship so far during his electric loan spell (Transfermarkt), there has been talk of the winger being re-called by Manuel Pellegrini and used in the senior side.

As far as we’re concerned, though, the young wide-man is better where he is for now. Despite claims from Football Insider that Pellegrini is ‘increasingly attracted’ to the idea of bringing the young loanee back, it just makes no sense to do so.

The whole point of loaning out Diangana was to see what he could do with more game time and an increased role of responsibility within a squad, and he’s taking that chance with both hands, however, re-call him and you’d only be limiting his minutes during a season where he could really get some serious game time and plenty of goals and assists under his belt.
