Joe Cole faces his old West Ham club this weekend with one thing in mind – to get Chelsea on the winning road again.

Although he said he welcomed the title challenge by Manchester United to ‘add interest to the season’, he would be eating his words if his old club shocked the Blues.

A West Ham win on Sunday combined with a Man United victory over Arsenal at Old Trafford would cut the lead to four

The Blues have only one victory in their last three league games, which included a 0-0 draw last week with Birmingham City and a 1-0 loss to another struggling team, Fulham.

Cole: ‘It wasn’t a great performance from us against Birmingham, but seven points is still a big gap over Manchester United and we are confident of securing the title again. We just need to get back to winning ways. We have not been as clinical in front of goal and that seems to be costing us at the moment.’
