News: West Ham man not expected to be thrown in the deep end by Moyes

|

The fight for survival in the Premier League is hotting up. West Ham United are one of a number of clubs who are desperate to be playing in the top flight next season, and over the January window they went out and poached Jarrod Bowen from Hull City in an attempt to ensure their survival.

However, it seems that the young wide-man, signed from Hull City last month for a large fee of £20m plus potential add-ons (BBC), isn’t ready to be dumped into Premier League action for the first time, and David Moyes is keen to protect his new man and ease him in gently.

That will be the best way for Bowen to work his way into action in England’s top-flight, and whilst fans won’t be happy with it, it’s almost certainly the best way to do things, even if the Englishman’s record in the Championship has been incredible over the last couple of seasons.

In 117 games in the Championship the 23-year-old has bagged himself 52 goals (Transfermarkt), and now he’s in the Premier League the Hammers want to see more of the same, but that may not be possible, especially he’s thrown in against both Man City and Liverpool away, fails to perform and then has fans on his back slating his every move.

Could Jarrod Bowen keep us up?

Yes

No

You can see what Moyes said about Bowen here:

‘I have been pleased with what I have seen from Jarrod at the moment. He’s come in and settled in very quickly, he’s looked very sharp in training.’

‘He’s obviously had loads of games, it’s not as if he’s short of match practice or match fitness in any way so I have been pleased. But I am also wary of putting the boys in too quickly.’

‘I have had lots of boys from the Championship in the past and I think it’s important that you put them in at the right time, the right moments, at the right time and we will just take our time and see when it’s right for Jarrod.’
