News: West Ham form man delivered stern message after Arsenal disappointment

|

Against Southampton last week, Sebastien Haller was different class. The Frenchman earned the frankly ludicrous match rating of 9.68 from WhoScored for his display against the Saints, and coming into a tough match against Arsenal, the fans would be hoping the Frenchman could put in another dominant display.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt man wasn’t poor against the Gunners in the 1-0 loss at the weekend, but he certainly could have been much better. The club’s £45m record signing (BBC), had the chances to score but failed to make the difference, although he wasn’t the only one in claret and blue who failed to bring his shooting boots.

The weekend will feel like a real chance spurned too. On Saturday alone the Irons watched on as relegation rivals Bournemouth, Watford and Norwich all lost, whilst Brighton drew (Premierleague.com), and with a result to match their performance, the Irons could have pulled a few points clear of the drop zone.

Would you take Marko Arnautovic over Sebastien Haller?

Yes

No

What’s done is done now though, and Haller, whilst speaking to the West Ham website (whufc.com), has claimed that they need to start turning performances into points, a statement that is hard to argue with after spirited defeats in recent weeks to both Liverpool and now Arsenal on the road.

Haller claimed:

‘Everyone was great, everyone made a strong game, but the only thing is I should have scored, Mikey should have scored, and that’s the thing that we missed, I think, because everything we did was OK and if we’d scored earlier, everything in the game would have been different.’

‘That’s the thing – we missed again, again and again, and a goal was given by VAR, which is really frustrating, but we can say nothing because it is our fault.’

‘We need to get good performances and this is what we’ve done for the last couple of weeks but the thing is, now we are not about playing well, it is just about the points, so even if we play bad, we have to get three points. We need to do it and hopefully we can.’
