News: West Ham could have key man ready ahead of midweek clash

|

No one has performed as they were expected to for West Ham United this season. That might be harsh on the likes of Angelo Ogbonna and Robert Snodgrass, who have enjoyed impressive individual seasons, but on the whole, the entire Hammers’ squad has underperformed.

That goes for the likes of Sebastien Haller and Felipe Anderson too, the club’s big-money signings, but should the pair find some form between now and the end of the season then there’s no reason why the Irons can’t stay up and make a late charge towards midtable.

Haller cannot do it alone, though, even if he does find form, and getting Anderson back to fitness and back to form will prove crucial. The Brazilian has been out injured since West Ham lost away at Bramall Lane, missing all but two of the Hammers’ Premier League games under David Moyes (Transfermarkt).

However, in those two games, the Brazilian did bag his first goal of the season, and his form was certainly promising. The supporters will have been keen to see him back as soon as possible, and now ExWHUemployee on Twitter has given the fans an update that will go down extremely well.

The West Ham insider, after fielding a question from a fan on the status of Anderson’s injury, claimed that the 27-year-old is ahead of schedule and could be back as soon as the rearranged Manchester City match next Wednesday, and this will come as great news for the fans, who are desperate for a spark of inspiration.

Will we get a result at The Etihad?

Yes

No

We’re not expecting the returning Anderson to come back into the fold and win the game on his own against Man City, but his return will prove vital for the upcoming game against Southampton, and in the long run between now and the end of the season, he has the talents to win points that could keep the Hammers in the top flight.
