News: Lukasz Fabianski has his say after impressive West Ham fall again

|

West Ham, by most accounts, were very unlucky to come away from The Emirates empty-handed. The Hammers played well for the most part and deserved a lot more than the 1-0 defeat they left with, besting the Gunners on shots, corners and xG on Saturday afternoon (Transfermarkt, Understat).

However, football is a cruel game, and despite chances falling for both Sebastien Haller and Michail Antonio, the Irons failed to convert and fell to a 1-0 defeat when Alexandre Lacazette, assisted by both Mesut Ozil and VAR, scored the only goal of the game.

After that goal, the Hammers tried to respond, with David Moyes making all three of his subs in the final ten minutes (Transfermarkt), but ultimately failed to do so, and the inquests have been ongoing into how the Irons didn’t win this one.

Should Fabianski be replaced?

Yes

No

Lukasz Fabianski, the Hammers’ usually reliable shot-stopper, has been talking on the West Ham website (whufc.com) about the defeat, and the Polish ex-Gunner claimed that the only thing that was missing was a goal, as his side fell to what was their 16th defeat of the season (Premierleague.com).

Fabianski stated:

‘We gave it our all. I think we were the better team, to be honest with you. We created many chances to be even two or three up. Leno had a great game for them, and obviously we’re disappointed that we actually lost the game because I don’t think we deserved to lose it. ‘

‘I think it gives us a lot of belief. I think the only thing missing today was taking our chances, being more clinical in front of goal, but that’s something that we’re really working hard on during the week.’

‘We have to take positives from it. I think we’re getting better as a team, as a group. We’re pushing teams, we’re managing games. We defended very well.’

‘They probably created two chances when we created more, so it was a disappointing afternoon for us because of the result, but I think we can take a lot from the game.’
